Laying a Foundation for Generations to Come
What Happened
On August 27th, 2023, The Mission's 36,000-square-foot main building was lost due to a devastating fire. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and no other buildings were affected. For over two decades, this cherished building served as a beacon of hope, providing a safe haven for at-risk children. It housed our jr high, high school, School of Missions, corporate offices, coffee shop, place of worship, and church. But while the fire took our building, it couldn't extinguish our spirit. Our commitment to rebuilding lives and restoring hope is stronger than ever. The Mission is more than just walls; it's a vessel of transformation, and a lifeline for those in need.
What We've Accomplished
Phase 1: Design
We worked with a team of talented architects to redesign the facility into something brand new. With a clear vision of the programs that we provide, we were able to design the new buildings in a way that is more practical, functional, and beautiful than before!
The building designs are complete and have been permitted by the City of Tijuana.
Phase 2: Breaking ground
With your support, we met our HUGE goal in December 2025! In just under a month, we raised almost $500,000 to complete funding for Phase 2.
Since then, a talented construction crew has been working diligently to lay the foundation, install structural steel beams, and pour the concrete floors.
Emergency Relocation
Within about a week of the fire, we were able to relocate all operations previously housed in the building to temporary locations.
Without missing a beat, our community of supporters stepped in to help us continue our essential child and family care programs. Local friends and neighboring schools donated school supplies and classroom furniture, the City of Tijuana sent a crew to help clear the rubble left by the fire, and partners from around the world contributed financially to cover the remaining costs.
Soon afterward, we installed a large, sturdy tent in the center of the campus. It now serves as the home of our daily worship services and weekly church gatherings.
The Next Step in Rebuilding
Phase 3: exterior Shell
We are now fundraising for Phase 3! This phase will bring the structure to life by completing the exterior shell of the building. This will include framing, windows and doors, and waterproofing of all of the new buildings. We will need $780,000 to fully fund Phase 3!
Every gift moves us closer to reopening a permanent space for our schools, church, offices, and community programs.

The building we lost was more than a structure. It was a place where children found safety, families found support, and lives were transformed every day.
Phase 3 brings us one step closer to restoring that space.

Fom the very beginning, we have relied on His faithfulness and the help of like-minded people. The Mission is unique in the sense that all of our operations teams are located on The Mission bases; we have no U.S. administrative headquarters. It has been a privilege to work alongside missionaries who have left their homes to serve, as well as nationals who are fiercely fighting for their own nations.
